"To be honest, we haven't talked that much about it. But he's determined to play. He missed Athens after playing Sydney (where he lost in the first round) and he really wants to play this time.

Tennis has been back in the Olympics since 1988, but a gold medal has yet to earn equal status with a Grand Slam win and the sport's place in the Games has been frequently questioned.
"Tennis should be in the Olympics," Hewitt said, before noting the difference with some other sports where the Games marks the pinnacle of achievement.
"We have four major Grand Slams in a year -- for other athletes here it is almost do or die. We will give it all we have got but in two weeks time there is the U.S Open," said the 27-year-old.
Hewitt's team-mate Alicia Molik, a bronze medal winner in Athens who is taking part in her third games, disagreed.
"The medal was the biggest highlight of my career and I feel a bit of a veteran here. We play as individuals most of the year and so it is a huge highlight to be in a team and feel that team spirit," she said.
Hewitt's hip injury had made him doubtful for Beijing and he said that he had feared he would miss out.
"After Wimbledon, I didn't give myself a lot of chance of playing here or at the U.S Open," he said.
"I had a week and a half of hitting in Sydney and took it day to day - I wasn't going to commit until I was sure that it wouldn't flare up," added Hewitt, who is not among the 16 seeded players.
"Not being seeded, a lot depends on the draw. I consider myself one of the most dangerous floaters. If I get through one or two matches I will just get better," he said.
Hewitt said surgery on his hip remained an option for some stage beyond the U.S Open, which starts on August 25, but said no decision had been made. |

Hewitt out for rest of 2008
Lleyton Hewitt today revealed that he has had to withdraw from the US Open next week after having surgery to his troubled hip area.
After exhausting every other possibility, other than surgery, recently at the Olympics Hewitt found it impossible and frustrating not being able to continue to play and be competitive at the highest level. “ Surgery was always the last resort, but unfortunately that’s what it came down to.” Hewitt said.
The surgery consisted of a hip arthroscopy and repairing of a hip labral tear.
Hewitt explained that he was extremely disappointed at missing the US Open, a grand slam event where he has enjoyed much success in the past.
“I am also shattered that I can’t lead the Australian Davis Cup team in Chile in our bid to rejoin the world group, and hope that the boys can still come through with a great win”.
Hewitt will now focus on his rehabilitation before commencing training for the Australian Summer Circuit. “I am looking forward to playing again in January in my home country, and using that as a springboard to compete at my best again on the world stage for at least a couple of more years”. |

on nie powienien grac juz od kilku tygodni
uparł sie na Igrzyska, ale wiecej nie da rady
tylko zeby mu to wyleczyli
