- I was just wondering what are your favorite movies (besides Rocky ones)and actors? I know your a big Jimmy Barnes fan, What is your favorite Jimmy Barnes song/album?
Ll:
I’m a big fan of all the Ocean 11 movies, I think George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Matt Damon are great in them. Also I love the Gladiator. Russell Crowe is one of my favourite actors and I think he plays this role amazingly. Recently I enjoyed watching American Gangster with Russell Crowe and Denzel Washington, I thought they worked brilliantly together.
Yeah, I love Jimmy Barnes’ music. One of my all time favourites is No Second Prize. The words in this song are very motivational.
- I have just received your dvd, and must I say it is fantastic! I love it! In one of the scenes, there was bowling. I was wondering if you still bowl with all of the same people.
Ll:
We still try to go ten pin bowling when I’m back in Adelaide, and it’s still very competitive!
- Has your personality managed to stay the same through all your success on court?
Ll:
Throughout the years I think my personality has really stayed the same. Obviously alot of things around you change but I’ve always had a great group of friends and family there, who have always stuck by me.
- I play a lot of sport, predominantly netball, but i am not all that fit, i was wondering, what do you do to keep a constant fitness level?
Ll:
I think a good way to keep a good standard of general fitness is by doing a little bit of cardio fitness 5 days a week. You can mix this up by either jumping on the treadmill, bike or stepper. Or if you prefer to be outside just go for a casual jog.
- What would have you done for a living if you weren't good at sports?
Ll:
I’m not really sure what I would have done apart from trying to play competitive sport. That is where my passion is and if I had to choose something else it probably would have still had something to do with sport. Perhaps, something to do with the AFL.
- What is you Nickname and why?
Ll:
Rusty. Darren Cahill when he coached me called my family the Griswalds, after the National Lampoon movies series starring Chevy Chase. The boy in the Griswald family was called Rusty and it has stuck!
- Who is your most admired sportsman in the world outside of tennis?
Ll:
There are actually two sportspeople I admire. Firstly Tiger Woods for the way he has dominated his sport, handles himself on the course, in business and his private life. The other person is Tyson Edwards, who plays Australian Rules football for the Adelaide Crows. Tyson is a very down to earth, level headed guy who has worked hard to be, I think, the most under rated best player in the Australian Football League.
- Does Mia have godparents and if so who are they?
Ll:
Yes Mia does have god parents, and they are Mandy and Tyson Edwards who live in Adelaide. Tyson is a midfielder with the Adelaide Crows and wears number 9. Mandy and Tyson have 3 boys, Jackson, Luke and Brodie that love spending time with Mia, who adores them.
- Do you still stay in touch with people you went to school with?
Ll:
Yes some of my best mates are those who I went to school with. The best man at my wedding was my old school friend Hayden Eckermann. Hayden also traveled with me over a couple of years and we stay close and in constant contact.
I actually conduct a footy tipping competition for some of the Australian tennis guys and I always invite my old school mates to join in the fun.
- A lot of tennis players play golf, do you and what is your handicap?
Ll:
I really enjoy a game of golf, but unfortunately do not get to play as often as I would like. I have been lucky enough to play with some top Australian players including Greg Norman, Aaron Baddley and former tennis player Scott Draper. My handicap currently is around 8, but I look forward to one day improving on that when I have more time to play.

No widzisz, wszystko jest dobrze, nie ma powodow do obaw ; )
chociaż z drugiej strony, to sie tak łatwo mówi nie, a podejrzewam, że gdyby tak było z Andym, albo z Aną, to też bym co chwile panikowała 
A na Australie już też czekam z utęskieniem! Mam nadzięję, że Lleyton powróci w wielkim stylu. W ogóle marzył by mi się spektakl new ballsów, ale 'to se już ne wrati' .. niestety

Lleyton Hewitt promotes charity auction in Perth

AUSTRALIAN tennis hero Lleyton Hewitt was in Perth today promoting a charity auction of items donated by celebrities, sport stars and political figures from around the world.
Ironwoman Candice Falzon pitched in by offering herself for a lunch date with the highest bidder for the auction on Lleyton and wife Bec’s website eSwap.com.au.
Candice, partner of West Coast Eagles’ star Brent Staker, also presented a signed guernsey for the auction on behalf of the football team.
The auction is raising funds for cancer charity Cure Our Kids, and includes a signed tennis racquet Rafael Nadal used when he won Wimbledon this year, a bomber jacket from Russell Crowe and a photo signed by Hugh Jackman.
Lleyton said he was especially excited about a pair of Presidential Seal cufflinks from former US president Bill Clinton.
“The tennis racquet is expected to fetch the most… a few people are hoping over $50,000,” he said.
“There are more than 100 items going (on auction) through November and also once-in-a-lifetime-experiences on offer.
“There’s the chance to meet and greet the Wiggles and tickets to the 2009 Wimbledon with flights included.”
“The auction has merchandise money can’t buy.”
Lleyton said the Cure Our Kids charity was a cause close to his heart.
“It really hits home now, having a young family at the moment, with (daughter) Mia and another one on the way,” he said.
“I was at a hospital in Sydney and to see how tough it is for the kids and their families – I’m hopeful that we can make a lot of money (for Cure Our Kids) to look after the families and sick children.”
Lleyton said he was looking forward to the Hopman Cup in January next year, and had recovered well from hip surgery nine weeks ago. |

LLEYTON Hewitt will attract his normal band of ignorant knockers wanting to criticise his every move when he struts into the Australian Open.
Hewitt has drawn on every inch of his fitness, willpower and glorious combativeness to raise himself into the elite of world tennis but not everyone is willing to praise this Herculean feat. One commentator routinely calls him "Little Lleyton" in the most condescending manner but has never even bothered to meet him.
Hewitt screams and gesticulates to rev himself up and the knockers say his behaviour is a disgrace. He tones it down and barely makes so much as a grunt and they bag him for going into his shell.
Regardless of the rights and wrongs of opinion, the theatre is magnificent and Hewitt is working his backside off with Tony Roche in Sydney for another assault on his national championship at Melbourne Park next month.
"He started working with Tony three weeks ago," Australia's former world No. 1 John Newcombe said this week.
"The last 10 days they've really picked it up and worked hard, and his biggest problem lately — his hip — is responding well.
"He wants to go hard for another two years, at least, and he believes he can get back into the top 10."
Hewitt became the youngest male world No. 1, at the age of 20, in November 2001. He spent 80 weeks on top of the mountain and even if he never returns, his Wimbledon, US Open and Davis Cup crowns are carved permanently into the history books.
A spate of injuries has him at No. 67 and he's been out of the top 10 since June 2006, but he's still top 10 where it matters — in his own head.
The bullish Rafael Nadal, the mercurial Roger Federer, the cocksure Novak Djokovic and the curmudgeonly Andy Murray have taken over the men's game, but in Hewitt's favour is how the Australian Open has become the biggest lottery of all the grand slams.
Players are coming off lay-offs and/or injuries and normal formguides can go out the window.
Newcombe suspects Murray may be the man to beat on Rod Laver Arena, but is adamant an injury-free Hewitt can reach the top five by the end of the year.
"Top four might be hard for him at the moment, but certainly he can beat anyone you want to name outside that top four," he said.
"Give him 12 months, and if he stays healthy, I'd be surprised if he's not in the top 10. Outside that top four, there's no one else there who you would say, 'Well, that guy is a champion.' Even (world No. 5) Nikolay Davydenko, he did play some great tennis at the Masters, but I've never ranked him as a really top player. All those guys outside the top four, I think of them as grand slam quarter-finalists. They're not winners when we get to the grand slams. Lleyton is a proven winner."
Newcombe has three words of advice for Hewitt: attack, attack, attack.
"If Lleyton plays defensively and relies on counter-attack, he's not going to get back in the top 10," he said.
"If he goes out and backs himself, hits a number of backhands down the line, gets his forehand going down the line and doesn't get stuck in this thing of hitting everything cross-court, he can do anything.
"With someone who volleys as well as Lleyton does, getting into the net has to be a serious option. He has an all-court game he can use to break up the baseliners. He can chip, he can come in, his instincts on a tennis court are exceptional.
"So many of the guys now hit the ball so hard off both sides that you have to take them out of their comfort zones. Lleyton has such a great all-round game that he can do it."
